Create full mockups of Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki, the new book by Haruki Murakami.
Working directly with Chip Kidd, we created full mockups of his book design.
The outer jacket printed match colors, including metallics, die cutting and double-sided lamination. We printed and mocked up the full book case and combined the two elements. The lamination of the jacket was meant to symbolize riding on a subway train, which is further emphasized by the subway map printed on the book case itself.
Murakami + Chip Kidd equals A2A Studio happiness. We see projects like this as both inspirational and self-esteem boosters. When you get to work on a project like this with Chip, you know you are working in rarefied air.
